Megan's Learning Curve

Portfolio Introduction

This portfolio resembles my work and learning experiences over the course of my Master's program. For the past two years, I have been a part of Texas A&M's Masters of Educational Human Resource Development program via distance learning. Encompassing the three areas of organizational development, career development, and training and development, this program has built a foundation for me to form my own HRD theories.

Through examples of my work, you will observe my growth process as I was able to apply the knowledge and skills in this program to current life applications. As I was able to form a greater understanding, this portfolio is a reassurance in my capabilities to be an asset to any organization.

Theme Explanation

As children, we are highly shaped by out surroundings and influenced by those in our environments. I chose to depict my time in the program based on a softball field.  Growing up, softball played a large factor in me learning practical life principles I still use to this day. I practiced multiple days out of the week and traveled every weekend playing tournaments. The sport still feels like a second nature to me. This is similar to how I hope to feel one day about human resources. My biggest hopes are to be able to help people develop and grow into their greatest potential.

My learning through this program has taken place in stages, which are depicted through the bases of a baseball diamond. With each step and each class, the greater picture of human resources came together. Once I rounded the bases in the last classes of this program, I began to grasp the concepts of HRD- organizational development, training and development and career development- and "hit a home run," which reflects my competence and confidence in the knowledge and skills gain in the HRD program.
